As you can see the above article, young people have lost interest in cars. When I was younger, I used to ask and be asked often what kind of car you have. Certainly when men get married and have their children, they buy RV cars and lose interest in cars. For them a car is just a means of transportation. However, now young people also regard cars as a means of transportation.

Even baseball and soccer are less popular than before. When I was a kid, my father used to watch baseball games on TV over drinks. But it is old-fashioned.

Most young people may be now playing video games, surfing on the Net, or using mobile phones.

私が入社した３年目くらいのときに、１０歳くらい先輩の方から、「あなたって、打つ、買う？、飲むのいずれもしないんだね。一体何が楽しみなの？」と聞かれたことがあります。父親の世代以上ならともかくも、それを聞いて自分は「あなたってつまらない人ですね」、って心の中で思ってしまいました。楽しみがそれだけしかないのか・・・と思ったものです。私が入社した頃は、皆独身寮でお気に入りの車を持っていて休日は車でお出かけするが常でした。今の若者たちは、一層と趣味が多様化しているということなのでしょうね。野球もサッカー観戦も決して飽きられたわけではなくて、楽しむことの種類が多すぎて時々参加型となっているのでしょう。数百万円まとめて高い車にお金をつぎ込むのではなくて、いろんなものに分散して使いたいのかもしれませんね。
